Unit 2 - Journey On Relaxation

Oh boy, do I have a difficult time quieting my mind.
I usually have about three different things I'm thinking about all the time.  Even tho I was tired and really ready to go to sleep, I hard a hard time not thinking about my other class, my emails, work tomorrow, events at work today, etc.
I completely understand how important it is to be able to turn all that stuff off.  I just haven't figured out how to do it yet :-(  I feel like I get bored just sitting and listening to a monotone voice for that length of time.
About the only time I have ever found that beneficial is... for a time I tried listening to select hypnosis tapes as I was falling asleep.  I had them set to loop continually, and some point in the middle of the night I would wake up and turn them off.
I'm going to keep working on this.....

  1. Helen, I completley understand what you mean by not being able to quiet your mind. I am the same way and I hate it. I have ADD/ ADHD so I seem to never be able to shut my mind off.

  2. Helen,
I to can understand. This was difficult for me because I just had surgery on my legs and can't get comfortable at all even with the house being quiet. will have to wait and try this one again. Nice job on your description.

  3. Helen,
I also have a difficult time just letting things go. I am constantly preparing for the next thing, the next day, the next whatever. I did find the voice and music relaxing and was able to feel semi-relaxed but I was continually interrupted by my children. I think I will attempt this one again.

  4. Hey Helen,

I understand that it is hard to find that "me" time, but you will realize it when you find it. There is that one moment you will say, hey this is the time that relaxation tape will help me settle down. As we have read, it is mind over matter. It is a matter of retraining the mind, to learn to settle down and relax. Even if it is for a few minutes. It will come to you.

    Namaste,

    Denise
